Home Sleep Testing (HST)

It is estimated that 43 million Americans suffer from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Unfortunately, more than 85% of people with OSA don't know it, yet this syndrome can be deadly. PM Sleep Lab is here to help answer your questions and help resolve your sleep issues.

A Home Sleep Test, (HST) is a simple-to-perform diagnostic test taken in the comfort of your own home. While you sleep, the HST device monitors your breathing and records pauses in your breathing known as Apneas. HST's are used to uncover Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) specifically; it is intended for patients who exhibit clinical signs and symptoms of OSA. It is important to recognize that HST only tests for Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and does not test for any other sleep disorders, of which there are 84 recognized sleep disorders.

In order to test any of the other sleep disorders, an in lab test will need to be performed. Should you take an HST and the results are negative or inconclusive, and you continue to have issues with your sleep, you may be asked to take an in lab test, which is the most comprehensive test for sleep disorders you can have.

Additionally, you may not be a candidate for an HST if you have a co morbid condition such as hypertension, diabetes, CHPD, CHF, are on supplemental Oxygen, or have Cardiac Issues.

Home Sleep Testing is easy and convenient since it can be performed in the comfort of your own home. Most insurances cover HST when referred by your primary care physician, a specialist, or a sleep center. Using PM Sleep Lab for your HST means that you can contact us at any time for assistance over the phone. The delivery of your test will be scheduled to your convenience and our Clinical Team is always available to help you, should you have any questions during the setup process, or during the test itself.
